Website monitoring tool Pingdom

Pingdom is a free online service that allows you to identify many features of any page of any site: page load speed, number of requests, page size, erroneous requests, etc. This monitoring tool is available by following this link: http://tools.pingdom.com/

To test your site speed, enter the URL of your site and press the button. After a few seconds, you will see test results:

* performance as a percentage of the maximum (current rating / maximum rating)
* number of requests to the server
* page loading time (in milliseconds)
* download size of page

Performance insights

And below will be provided more detailed information about the download, on which you can draw conclusions that further to do.

Content size by content type provides information on the type of files on the site that holds most of the space and the Requests by Content Type table provides information on which types of files to execute most of the queries:

File requests

Here you will find the URLs of the downloads of each site element and its characteristics by weight and load times at each stage. Pointing to the graphs of the indicators, the time positions of the downloads are displayed.

Rating of download metrics

To determine the rating of your site’s indicators, you need to compare it with the standards:

– The performance rating should not be less than 70
– The number of requests should not exceed 50-70
– Page load time is no more than 4 seconds
– And the page size should not be more than 1 MB.

In this page we see the order of the files on which the server issues them to the client.
Each file is downloaded from the server passing several stages.

DNS – connects to the domain name server
Connect – to the hosting server and establishes a connection for the transfer of data files.
Send – then there is a transfer of information from the client to the server (download from the server does not go).
Wait – waiting for a response from the server and starting the data output.
Receive – the process of transfer, namely the receipt of the file by the client.
Total – total download time of the file

This is the time that passes each boot file from the moment the page loads and until it finishes

At once I will tell, these indicators are approximately conditional, and the approach to speed of loading should be individual. In addition, it is desirable to run the test several times and derive an average value
