Clearing web browser’s cache and cookies

There are some situations when we ask our clients to clean browser cache. So, we have prepared an article that describes how to clear cookies and cache on most popular web browsers.

Since web browser cache is responsible for storing the data of previously viewed websites, it allows the browser to quickly display a web page on your next visit. However, from time to time, it is recommended to clear network browser’s cache and cookies, because it could affect your device speed and performance due to accumulated cache in the browser or affect your personal and sensitive information which is cached in the web browser.

For instance, if you configure domain settings or develop your website pages and you want to check changes via browser, sometimes web browsers could be unable to figure out that the website or domain you are viewing has changed. So, that’s why browsers could still load the cached version of files from local storage. Also, it could be the solution when you get some browser errors in the visited website.

So, if you are facing some problems with web browser cache, you should follow provided steps below to clear the cache for your preferred browser.

Google Chrome

1. Click the icon, and then click Settings;

2. Click Privacy & Security, and then click Clear browsing data, select Cookies and saved website data or Cached images and files check box;

3. Then click Clear data.

Mozilla Firefox

1. Click the |||\ icon and click on History, then click Clear Recent History.

2. In the Time range list box, select the length of time to clear data. If the entire cache should be cleared, select Everything;

3. Under History, to clear:

  • cache, select the Cache check box;
  • cookies, select Cookies check box.

4. Then click OK.

Or:

1. Click on the Open Menu button at the top-right corner and select Preferences;

2. Click Privacy & Security and find Cookies and Site Data;

3. Under Cookies and Site Data click on Clear Data button;

4. To clear:

  • cookies, select Cookies and Site Data check box;
  • cache, select Cached Web Content check box;
  • both, select Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content check boxes.

5. Then click Clear.

Opera

1. Firstly, open the Opera web browser on your device;

2. Then in the left sidebar, click the O icon, and click Settings;

3. Click Advanced and click Privacy & security;

4. Select Clear browsing data and choose the Basic tab;

5. In the Time range list box, select the length of time to clear data. If the entire cache should be cleared, select All time;

6. To clear:

  • cache, select the Cached images and files check box;
  • cookies, select the Cookies and other site data check box.

7. Then click Clear data.

Internet Explorer

1. Click on the Tools button at the top-right corner and select Safety;

2. Select Delete Browsing History;

3. Then the windows will open where you can choose what you want to clear;

4. If you want to clear:

  • cache, select Temporary Internet files and website files check box;
  • cookies, select Cookies and website data check box.

Microsoft Edge

1. Click on the settings button at the top-right corner. In the menu that pops up, click on History;

2. Then click on Clear History button at the top of the page;

3. To clear:

  • cache, select the Cached data and files check box;
  • cookies, select the Cookies and saved website data check box.

4. Once you are done with your selection, click the Clear button.

Google Android:

1. At the top right, click on this icon ;

2. Then select History and Clear browsing data;

3. In the Time range list box, select the length of time to clear data. To delete everything, select All time;

6. To clear:

  • cache, select the Cached images and files check box;
  • cookies, select the Cookies and site data check box.

7. Then click Clear data.

Safari for macOS:

1. Open your Safari browser, click Safari and then click History;

2. Choose Clear History;

3. In the Clear list box, select the length of time to clear data;

4. And you can click Clear History button. Along with clearing Safari history, cookies and cache will be cleared as well.
